How do I apply for a travel nursing position?
You can browse and apply for all of our travel nursing opportunities here!
How long does the application process take?
The process typically takes 1–7 days. First, we will gather the necessary information to submit your application to the facility. Once approved, we will work with you to complete any required documents or credentials to get you started.
Do I need previous travel nursing experience?
No, prior travel nursing experience is not required. However, you must meet the following criteria:
- At least two years of nursing experience in your specialty, preferably in a hospital setting.
- An active state nursing license.
- Relevant certifications, such as ACLS or BLS (varies by specialty).
- Willingness to work a full-time travel assignment (minimum 36 hours per week).
Do you charge for the drug screening and/or background check?
No, Elite Medical Staffing covers the cost of both.
Assignments
What is the typical length of a travel nursing contract?
Most contracts last 10–13 weeks, but assignments can vary in length. Extensions are common, and flexibility is one of the many perks of travel nursing! You can even take breaks between assignments to fit your lifestyle.
Can I choose my assignment location?
Yes! You can select from our open positions based on your licensure and preferences.
How much notice is given before the start of an assignment?
The start date for each assignment will be provided before your submission, allowing you to decide if the timeline works for you.
What happens if I want to extend or end an assignment early?
Extensions are easy to coordinate and typically ensure no gaps in pay or housing. However, ending a contract early may result in termination depending on the circumstances, as travel nursing is a contracted agreement.
Where can I access a physical copy of my contract?
You can view or download your contract anytime in Xenqu, the platform where you completed your onboarding paperwork.
Pay and Benefits
How is travel nurse pay structured?
Pay typically includes taxable hourly wages plus untaxed stipends for housing and meals. Each contract varies, so your staffing coordinator will provide specific details.
Where can I get a timesheet?
You can download a timesheet here.
When do timesheets need to be turned in ?
Timesheets should be submitted after each shift and no later than Saturday each week.
Do you offer health insurance, retirement plans, or other benefits?
